There are a number of ways that we as a church can help serve and volunteer during the Covid-19 pandemic. There is an incredible movement happening with the City of Philadelphia, nonprofit organizations, ministries, and churches coming together to serve the most vulnerable populations of our city. We will be using this location on The Hub to keep you up to date on opportunities to serve and the ways you can sign-up to help.
ForPhilly is a coordinated outreach effort by many organizations, including Easter Outreach & Chosen300, helping to deliver meals to seniors and those that can’t get food for themselves. They are looking for healthy people to pack food and deliver food. For times, locations, and opportunities, check this continually updated link: https://forphilly.groupvitals.com/groupFinder/profile/40278.
Many of the women and families AlphaCare serves have found themselves facing impossible circumstances in the midst of this pandemic. They are dealing with loss of income and the loss of basic provisions such as food, diapers, wipes, etc.. AlphaCare families need help like never before. One way we can partner with AlphaCare is to help them deliver material goods (diapers, wipes, food, etc.). If this is something you can do please email AlphaCare directly at email@example.com.
As part of our continuing support of Chosen 300, their director, Brian Jenkins, as communicated there some specific opportunities for us as a congregation to serve them. They have both material needs and labor needs, see below:
A continuing need for supplies, which could be dropped at the West Philadelphia location at 3959 Lancaster Avenue (call ahead 215.765.9806)
A current need for oven cleaning at both the West Philadelphia location and the Center City location at 1116 Spring Garden St.
